| Here me now! Brrrrat - brrrrat! |
Arizona 7 – Atlanta 41
Arizona
Derek Anderson is a turnover machine. Zona is starting to look like a team that you can stream Defenses against. Fitz is the only safe Mantasy option on the team right now.
Atlanta
The Micheal Jenkins injury continues to benefit Roddy White as he was targeted 12 more times today. Snelling might be a hot short-term pickup if Turner’s groin injury limits him next week.
Tampa Bay 20 – Carolina 7
Tampa
Freeman threw 2 TDs for the second weekend in a row. He’s a decent backup QB option because he also contributes a few points weekly via the run.
Carolina
The Ninja, Steve Smith, had another nice game with a long touchdown. Clausen targeted him 4 times in his 1½ series of relief for Moore, so I wouldn’t downgrade Smith if that move becomes permanent.
Baltimore 10 – Cincinnati 15
Baltimore
It’s a tough draw going up against the Jets and Bengals stymieing secondaries in the first two weeks of the season, but it might be time to start worrying a little bit that Flacco is not a top 10 Mantasy QB option. He looked out of rhythm all day, and his picks were largely the hit the opposing defenders in the numbers variety.
Cincinnati
I don’t think either Owens or Ocho are going to offer consistent #1 or #2 WR numbers this season. Shipley and Gresham got 11 targets today and that number will only increase as those talented rookies get more acclimated to the pro game.
Kansas City 16 – Cleveland 14
Kansas City
If I were a Dwayne Bowe owner, I would bench him so long as Matt Cassel is the Chief’s starting QB. 12 touches is not enough for Charles. With the current distribution in the KC backfield, Charles will remain a boom/bust start.
Cleveland
Mantasy wasteland. It is worth noting that Harrison received twice the carries of his backfield mate and apparent goal line back, Hillis. Don’t get sucked into buying Cribbs’ big game.
Chicago 27 – Dallas 20
Chicago
Even after Forte’s huge receiving day last weekend, I think his owners were probably hoping to see him have little more success on the ground today. It didn’t happen (2.9 yds/carry), but he did have another receiving TD. Points are points though, and I don’t see any reason why Forte won’t continue to find success through the air.
Dallas
Dallas has absolutely fallen in love with the pass this season. Romo has already thrown 98 times this season in two games that were never really blowouts. Unless the Boys alter their game plan, it looks like the Barbarian and Felix are going to be marginal mantasy options.
Philadelphia 35 – Detroit 32
Philadelphia
After a relatively underwhelming first week, McCoy had the biggest game of his career with 3 TDs and over 100 yards rushing. The big thing to note here is that thus far McCoy’s redzone touches have not been limited by the presence of Mike Bell as many worried when he was signed during the offseason. McCoy owners shouldn’t get too comfortable with McCoy’s newfound success though. Once Kolb reclaims his starting role next week, I anticipate Reid ramping up the red zone Vick packages.
Detroit
Best has 5 TDs already – and while he didn’t look all that good scoring twice last weekend, he scored 3 today with 230 total yards. He’s the leader out of the gate in the three-rookie RB race.
Buffalo 7 – Green Bay 34
Buffalo
There were rumors all week about Buffalo’s third string running back, Marshawn Lynch, being traded to the Packers in the wake of the Ryan Grant injury. So what does Chan Gailey do? He starts Lynch and gives him 17 carries while affording Jackson and Spiller 10 carries combined. Were the Bills showcasing Lynch? Did they think he would have extra motivation after the week of controversy? Who knows? Lynch put up a decent yardage total, but he won’t retain significant value if he remains with the Bills.
Green Bay
The anointment of Brandon Jackson as a strong # 2 RB might have been a little premature. He had an almost even split of carries with FB, Kuhn (11 & 9 respectively).
From a talent standpoint, I want to believe that Jennings is a top 7 WR. Unfortunately for his owners, I think he suffers from Marques Colston syndrome. I think you know what I mean.
Pittsburgh 19 – Tennessee 11
Pittsburgh
It might be best to avoid Steelers WRs until the big guy gets back.
Although I really question anybody’s decision making skills who rocks this haircut to his “I’m going change my behavior” press conference, Big Ben has proven that he can make this offense click … Charlie Batch has not.
Tennessee
Titans receivers are never worth owning. Never. CJ had an 85 yard TD called back.
Miami 14 – Minnesota 10
Miami
Brandon Marshall did most of his damage on Miami’s first offensive play of the game. Hopefully his frustration with Henne won’t bubble over.
Minnesota
Minus a trade for Vincent Jackson, Shiancoe is going to be very valuable this year. Harvin was very involved to start the game collecting the Vikings first 5 receptions. We’ll have to stay tuned to how serious his hip injury is.
Seattle 14 – Denver 31
Seattle
Mike Williams got stuck on Champ Island today (why is Revis the only corner who owns an island?). I still think he’s lower end #2 WR.
Denver
The receiver situation in Denver is interesting, but ultimately probably too unpredictable to trust. Royal has started the season with two good games and is probably the best bet for consistency out of the slot position. Demaryius Thomas played in his first game tonight after being injured for most of training camp and had a lot of success. He was one of Denver’s first round picks and he has good size and speed, so he could conceivably be a valuable pick up. Jabar Gaffney is Jabar Gaffney. He’s been in the league for 9 years. I think some analysts overreacted a bit to the last 3 games of last season.
St. Louis 14 – Oakland 16
St. Louis
Clayton had another successful day with his new team, but interestingly he collected his fantasy points in a completely different way then last week when he acted as the team’s possession receiver in catching 10 balls for over 100 yards. This week he only had 2 receptions, but scored on both. He’s clearly on Bradford’s mind, so he should be on ours as well.
Oakland
McFadden continues his emergence and should be in line for another big week next Sunday against the Cardinals who got ran all over today.
New England 14 –New York Jets 28
New England
Never own a Patriots running back. Never.
New York Jets
If you didn’t watch the game, you could look at the stat line and be encouraged as a Shonne Greene owner that he had more carries than LDT. However, if you actually watched the game you would know that many of those carries game in garbage time when the Jets were trying to run out the clock. At best, Greene is the Jets’ closer right now.
Jacksonville 13 – San Diego 38
Jacksonville
As an owner of MJD for a second year in a row, I’ve noticed that coach Del Rio (more than any other coach in the league) is fine with calling it a game in the third quarter if his team is down. “Oh, we’re down 20 in the third? Take MJD and Garrard out and rest them up for next week”. What? Nice bounce back game for the Hyphen. I wouldn’t want to have to use him though.
San Diego
Matthews came back to the sideline after his injury scare and hopefully his foot injury won’t linger, but if you want to handcuff him (to your bed posts), it looks like the guy you want is Tolbert. If you haven’t seen this big fella run, you are missing out - it is an absolute delight. Stock tip: if Matthews ever goes down for an extended period and Tolbert is featured, we all might want to buy stock in whatever company makes the oxygen tanks on the sidelines.
Houston 30 – Washington 27
Houston
Houston got back to a pass heavy attack today. Foster owners should be happy because he was remained involved even when Schaub was going to the air. Foster owners should also be happy that he compared himself to Einstein during countdown … and it wasn’t in a Mayne Event segment.
Washington
Portis is looking like a pretty good value pick right now. Not a great game today, but 2 TDs and he’s not really ceding carries to anyone.
