Your boy Hova is back in the building to let you know that, "Enough dollars make sense." After two weeks of football, there are many things that I cannot makes sense of in the NFL. Still, there are many more things that puzzle me about our dear Mantasy League. If Jigga is correct, then we need a whole lot of stacks to sort our situation and make sense of the league, but I don't have that kind of money so I'll just try my best and hope someone sees a pattern.
Trying to make cents. |
These are not in order, just tiers.
The Top (2-0):
Pete - Debbie does Dallas Clark
The man affectionately called 'Dollarz' owns the least confusing team in the league. Therefore, let's be happy that our Dollarz has at least made one bit of sense. He is 2-0 and is scoring in bushels. Jahvid Best is showing his value and at least I did well with this - Antowain Smith and Sleep Fear - because I benched Best in my other league. The lineup is stacked here and Dallas Clark is once again showing his incredible fantasy value. He is the best TE to own. Hands down. Gore will eventually wake up and Charles should continue to wrestle carries from Jones, which makes this a tough three-headed RB team. Depth at that position is the only hope for the others. The man scored 162 points this week.
He was the best on Sunday. |
Brendan - Gym, Tan, Smoosh
He sees more collusion than Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory. And his team just throws up points on the board. This is the other complete team. Like Pete, Brendan has no holes in the lineup and plenty of firepower. The receivers - Steve Smith and Miles Austin - are particularly scary, but Rivers and the tandem of Ray Rice and LeSean McCoy (I will admit that I hated on this guy and was wrong) are also very solid. Maybe bye weeks calm this team down, but otherwise, it will be tough every week.
He proved me wrong. |
The Middle (1-1):
Tim - The Ninth District
A one point loss that came down to Bradshaw vs. Addai. This is why they play the games. The kickers in this matchup combine for 3 pts, Chris Johnson had 5 points after an 85 yard touchdown was called back for holding. The District will throw out a complete lineup every week if L.T. continues to produce. This could easily be a 2-0 team and sort of should be a 1-0-1 team, since Addai seems to have been given credit for yards that gained on a hold. This is one owner who will be checking the NFL's updated stats closely.
Rick - Do Your Balls Dangle Low?
The pre-season favorite is back on the right track. Ap and Schaub are certain to lay down a nice base of points each week. Fitz remains the question - is he elite? If so, this is a strong side that will be in the top at the end. Carolina being so bad is taking its toll on both Panther runners, but one has to figure that they figure things out a bit. Peterson has a great matchup next week and should help this team grab another win before his bye week.
Chandler - Maurice Jones-Jew
Quarterbacks are important - "It's the Year of the Quarterback!" - and Maurice has Flacco. Will he be good enough? My guess is that he will be...some weeks, but if your play caller is going to score single digits, you need a guy to go off. We have to assume MJD is cooking up something. If he can't get it going, I think this team will be looking up from inside of a six foot hole.
Sabo - Milk Steak and Jelly Beans
Big win this week, but somehow there are concerns over RB production. Mendenhall has not done much save for the O.T. home run in week one. The Steelers like to chug games out, so I assume he will continue to be fed. The others - McFadden, B.Jackson, Stewart - are either in, or about to be in, crowded backfields. I suppose Jackson is the guy, but Green Bay ran that horse of a man, Kuhns, and without Jackson's TD, he was meager. This team is evolving and a large turn in either way could really shake things up. Welker loves football.
Judd - Chris Henry's X-treme Parkour
Three good running backs - Forte, S-Jaz, and Foster - are a great base for a lineup. Forte and Arian are probably tired from relieving themselves everywhere in week 1, and their value is probably much closer to what they offered in week 2 than something in between. Like so many others, this owner can only sit back and watch to see if week 3 reveals any truths about his Mantasy. As for this week, it was over when Jahvid Best started playing.
Bart - It's Gold, Jerry! Gold!!!
Bart goes as the Patriots go. Fortunately, that will usually mean a lot of points. This week, it almost back-fired, but the situation worked out and our Taco is back in the hunt. There will have to be some good roster management week-to-week to keep up, but the WR talent is there and if Hillis scores, he has value. Sims-Walker has arrived. At least, for this week...on the bench.
| "Hey Ocho, I won my week and I own Peyton Hillis." I think we know what he would say to that. |
The Basement (2-0):
Drew - The Grundles
Talk about bad luck. A strong first week fell short and then week 2 found two zeroes in the box score (Jacobs and M. Williams) and a Turner injury that forced the stub back from the game. There is still so much talent on this roster that I'm guessing the wins are going to come soon, but being 0-2 is a bad situation, as 0-3 is starting to venture into must-win territory. Remember, people make the playoffs with 7 and 8 wins sometimes. Drew faces a tough Smoosh team. Will we have a 3-0 and an 0-3 or will the league be pulled back together?
Fuller - Bush...Bowe-ner?
I must say, writing this team's name is not fun. It uses two players' names, so it follows the traditional recipe that is often used to name a time, but it is flat out wordy. It is actually two sentences, equipped with lots of punctuation baggage. But enough about that. The Bush, Bowe team better hope that Ryan Mathews is fine. If he is, there is hope. The WRs and Vernon Davis should be plenty to win weeks. Starting Reggie Bus is always tough, but I'm sure he'll score at some point and hurt an opponent's feelings. Especially if they can repair fibulas in four days. Playing Rick is a tough bid, but a win would make a real statement.
